The Sporting Lucas Terrier is a small, sturdy and alert terrier with a lively, intelligent temperament; typically friendly with family, independent-minded and energetic, it suits owners who enjoy training and outdoor activity. They are compact in size but need regular exercise and mental stimulation to prevent boredom, plus early socialisation to manage any strong prey drive. Practical considerations when buying or adopting include ensuring you have secure outdoor space, time for daily walks and play, and commitment to basic grooming and health checks; seek a reputable breeder or rescue and ask about temperament and background.
