Friendly, affectionate and of medium size, the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier is a lively companion known for its soft wheaten coat, playful temperament and willingness to please. Generally adaptable to family life, Wheaten Terriers need regular exercise and mental stimulation to channel their curiosity and occasional stubborn streak, so daily walks, play and consistent, positive training are important. Their single-layer coat requires routine grooming and occasional trimming to prevent matting rather than heavy shedding. Prospective owners should consider space to run or a secure garden, ongoing grooming time and socialisation needs before buying or adopting.
