The Russian Toy Terrier is a very small, lively companion dog known for being affectionate, alert and intelligent; they typically weigh under 3.5–4 kg, enjoy short bursts of activity and bond closely with their families. They suit homes with limited space but still need daily walks, playtime and gentle socialisation, and can be fragile around boisterous children or larger dogs, so careful handling is important. Grooming needs are modest—smooth- or long-coated types need regular brushing—and attention to dental care, warmth in cold weather and consistent positive training will keep them happy.
