The Basset Griffon Vendeen is a small-to-medium scent hound with a cheerful, friendly demeanour, an independent streak and a lively curiosity; compact and sturdy with a rough coat, it enjoys sniffing and exploring and suits owners who can provide regular exercise and mental stimulation rather than a purely sedentary life. They generally get on well with families and other dogs but can be vocal and follow their nose, so a secure garden and good recall training are important. Routine grooming, ear checks and patient, consistent training help them thrive — if this energetic, sociable hound sounds like a match, take a look at Basset Griffon Vendeen pets currently available.
