The American Bobtail is a friendly, intelligent cat known for its short, expressive tail, sturdy medium-to-large build and playful, social nature. Typically affectionate and adaptable, they enjoy interactive play and climbing but are not excessively demanding, making them suitable for families and experienced owners alike. Prospective owners should consider their need for regular mental and physical stimulation, space for climbing or perches, and consistent grooming to keep their shaggy coat healthy. When buying or adopting, seek a reputable breeder or rescue, check health and temperament, and be prepared for a long-term commitment to exercise and companionship rather than a low-maintenance pet.
