Graceful and gentle, the Greyhound is a medium-to-large sighthound known for a calm, affectionate temperament, lean muscular build and surprising bursts of speed. They are often laid-back at home, enjoying sofa time as much as a brisk walk, but still need regular exercise and occasional opportunities to run in a secure area. Prospective owners should consider space and a sheltered garden, sensitivity to cold due to a fine coat, and potential prey drive around small animals; grooming and basic care are straightforward but routine veterinary checks are important.
