The Picardy Spaniel is a medium‑to‑large, sturdy gundog known for a calm, affectionate temperament and steady working instincts; typically gentle with families, sociable with other dogs and eager to please when given a job. They are energetic rather than hyperactive, enjoying long walks, swimming and retrieving, so they suit active owners who can provide daily exercise and mental stimulation. Prospective owners should consider space for regular activity (a secure garden helps), a sensible training routine and moderate grooming to keep their medium‑length coat and ears healthy, plus early socialisation to manage hunting instincts.
