The German Rex is a medium-sized, muscular cat known for its soft, waved coat and affectionate, curious temperament; typically sociable and playful rather than lazy, it enjoys interactive games and climbing but isn’t overly demanding. Prospective owners should consider that while they adapt well to flats, they need regular mental and physical stimulation — cat trees, puzzle feeders and daily play sessions help prevent boredom. Grooming is straightforward due to the short coat, but they can be sensitive to cold and sun so a warm indoor environment and sensible sun protection are wise. As with any cat, budget for routine vet care, enrichment and companionship when deciding to buy or adopt.
