Alert, affectionate and built for scent work, the Segugio Italiano is a medium-sized Italian hound with a keen nose, steady temperament and plenty of stamina. Typically independent yet loyal to their household, they suit active families or owners who enjoy long walks, tracking and regular mental stimulation. They can be vocal and have a strong prey drive, so early training, consistent socialisation and a securely fenced garden are important. Coat care is straightforward for short‑haired types but wire‑haired dogs need occasional hand‑stripping or brushing. Consider space, time for daily exercise and commitment to training before buying or adopting — and if this sounds right for you, take a look at Segugio Italiano pets currently available.
