Pointers are medium-to-large, athletic gundogs known for their steady, friendly temperament, intelligence and high energy; they thrive on regular activity and mental stimulation. Typically affectionate with family and good with children, they can be independent when working and retain a strong prey drive, so early training and socialisation are important. Their short coat is straightforward to care for, but they do best with access to a secure garden and plenty of daily exercise — long walks, runs or fieldwork suit them better than a sedentary lifestyle. Prospective owners should consider space, time for training and an active routine before committing. Take a look at the Pointer pets currently available.
