Solid, affectionate and independent, the Alaskan Malamute is a large, powerful working dog known for a friendly temperament, pack-oriented sociability and high energy levels. They typically reach substantial size and need regular vigorous exercise, mental stimulation and firm, consistent training; they shed heavily and benefit from routine grooming. Prospective owners should consider space requirements, a secure garden, time for daily activity and experience handling strong-willed breeds, as well as the commitment to grooming and socialisation. When well matched to an active household the Malamute can be a loyal companion, so if you think this breed suits your lifestyle, take a look at the Alaskan Malamute pets currently available.
