The Norwegian Buhund is a medium-sized, energetic and intelligent spitz-type dog known for its friendly, loyal and alert nature; it often bonds closely with family, enjoys play and training, and can be a watchful companion. These active dogs need regular exercise and mental stimulation—daily walks, play and tasks suit them best—and benefit from early socialisation and consistent training. Considerations before buying or adopting include ensuring you can provide time for activity, a secure outdoor space or frequent outings, regular grooming for a thick double coat, and routine health care.
