The Barbet is a medium-sized, affectionate water dog known for its intelligent, sociable nature and willingness to please; typically calm at home but enjoying active play and regular swims. They suit families and owners who can offer daily exercise, mental stimulation and consistent socialisation, and their thick, curly coat needs routine grooming to prevent matting. Prospective owners should consider whether they have space for energetic activity, time for training and care, and choose a reputable breeder or rescue that screens for health issues. With the right commitment a Barbet can make a loyal companion—take a look at the Barbet pets currently available.
