The Belgian Shepherd is an alert, intelligent and devoted medium-large dog, known for its high drive and keen working instinct. Energetic and quick to learn, these dogs thrive on regular, varied exercise and mental stimulation, from long walks and runs to agility or obedience work, and some coat types need routine grooming. Prospective owners should consider whether they can offer time for training, secure outdoor space and consistent socialisation — they do best with active households and may not suit very small flats or those unable to exercise them daily.
