Newfoundlands are large, calm dogs known for their gentle, patient nature and strong family instincts; they’re often steady with children and other pets and enjoy moderate activity such as long walks, play and swimming. Their heavy build and thick double coat mean they need space to move and regular grooming to manage seasonal shedding, and prospective owners should consider the ongoing cost of food, routine vet care and the possibility of breed-specific health checks. They respond well to consistent, positive training and early socialisation. If you have room, time for exercise and coat care, a Newfoundland can be a loyal companion — take a look at Newfoundland pets currently available.
