The Azawakh is a graceful, slender sighthound known for being loyal and quietly affectionate with its family yet often reserved with strangers; it’s tall, elegant and thrives on regular bursts of fast running alongside calm, attentive companionship at home. Prospective owners should consider that Azawakhs need reliable daily exercise, secure fencing and patient socialisation to manage prey drive, plus protection from cold due to their fine coat; they’re low-maintenance to groom but benefit from consistent, gentle training and an owner who understands independent breeds.
