The Hungarian Pumi is a compact, medium-sized herding dog known for its lively, alert temperament and quick intelligence. Energetic and playful, Pumis thrive on regular physical activity and mental stimulation, enjoying walks, training sessions and canine sports; they bond closely with family but can be reserved with strangers, so early socialisation and consistent training are important. Their curly, weather-resistant coat requires routine brushing and occasional trimming, and potential owners should consider space to run—an access to a secure garden or a firm commitment to daily exercise.
