Border Terriers are small, sturdy dogs known for a friendly, alert temperament and lively, working‑bred energy. Typically weighing around 5–7 kg and standing 28–36 cm, they suit owners who appreciate a confident, affectionate companion that also enjoys independent thinking and a good run. Before buying or adopting, consider their need for regular daily exercise and mental stimulation, a secure garden for their strong prey drive, and grooming for the wiry coat (stripping or regular brushing). They adapt to family life and flats if walked sufficiently, but benefit from consistent training and early socialisation.
